A Piece of Creativity, A Great Piece of Architecture and Something I find Beautiful

Something Creative

My dragon
I have chosen my dragon as one of my most creative pieces.  He was sculpted out of clay over two years ago. I have made this choice because at the time of the artwork, I was allowed to create him in any shape or form, completely from my own imagination. This freedom allowed me to be creative and think of ways to channel interesting aspects onto the dragon. Another reason includes the fact that with the creativity I was allowed to show, I had certain constraints such as the size of the sculpture. During the process I also had to be creative in ways of concealing and fixing/ finding a way around problems that arose, such as the breaking of the one wing. This Dragon’s name is Humphrey.

A Great Piece of architecture

This is the Soccer City Stadium in Soweto, Johannesburg, South Africa. It was upgraded in order to host the first and final matches of the 2010 World Cup Soccer and is now able to seat 94,700 people. The design is intriguing not only for its unique shape and design, but due to the fact that it was heavily influenced by its location and the cultures of the land. The stadium now reflects the shape of an African Pot with colourful lights running around the exterior of the building to give the illusion of fire at the bottom of it. This is fitting as it ties together elements of the South African culture which add to the overall African experience and atmosphere for the tourists during the World Cup.

Something I Find Beautiful

My guitar
I have chosen my guitar as something I find beautiful. It is one of the 8 instruments in my household. Not only do I find the light and darker wood contrasts mixed with small patterned detail appealing, but I find the instrument beautiful on another level. This instrument is beautiful to me because it symbolises music which I am passionate about. It acts as an escape from frustration or hard times and is able to bring comfort and happiness to myself and my family. . I also consider the sound of the music which is made by the instrument beautiful.
